Mass media giant Gannett and international sports betting brand Tipico are set to launch a joint sports betting app in New Jersey and Colorado this fall.

One of the leading sports mass media companies in the US, Gannett and the German sports betting brand Tipico will launch the app in both states as part of a new strategic partnership.

The betting app itself will use Tipico’s popular sports betting brand along with their pre-existing technology, which means a swift penetration into the market will be possible.

On the other hand, Gannett will provide its extensive media network which consists of more than 250 powerful sports sites which are visited by more than 46 million unique sports fans.

The Gannett network is made up of sites such as The Indy Star, MMA Junkie, Golfweek, the Detroit Free Press and more than 200 other media outlets of various sizes.

At this time, it is expected that product integration will start in August, aligning with the start of the NFL season.

It is expected that the readers of the various Gannett owned brands will get a chance to make a seamless transition from reading their favorite sports news to making sports bets, with betting odds and other elements of the Tipico sportsbook integrated directly into the websites.

Gannett has a unique opportunity to offer Tipico direct access to millions of real sports fans, as it owns several highly targeted websites which aim directly at fans of both professional and college sports on a national and local level.

Deal Includes $90M Media Spend

The five-year deal calls for Tipico to become the exclusive betting partner for Gannett, with a full integration of their betting odds and other elements across the entire USA Today Network.

Tipico has made a commitment for a $90 million media spend with the network, along with additional incentives for customer referrals.

In turn, Gannett is set to provide Tipico with a series of premium marketing materials and special exclusive exposure opportunities, such as their branding of the “Bet for the Win, powered by Tipico Sportsbook” subsection on the popular website “For the Win.”
