MGM Bonus City brings an added level of fun to BetMGM, allowing players to experience MGM Resorts’ Las Vegas casinos in a new way. We’re confident that our customers will enjoy this unique digital offering. Exciting news for NJ online casino fans — BetMGM has launched MGM Bonus City, a first-of-its-kind online casino game that combines elements of live dealer and pre-recorded content in New Jersey.

MGM Bonus City uses technology developed by Inspired Entertainment that integrates virtual CGI, green screens, and footage of real dealers to create “an unparalleled gaming experience” for customers of BetMGM Casino NJ, the operator said in a statement.

By combining branded casino and gameshow content with physical and digital elements, BetMGM figures that their collaboration with Inspired has effectively created a new igaming category called “hybrid dealer.”

Hybrid Dealer game outcomes require no studio as they are RNG-generated,” the operator said. “The scheduled action continues 24/7, with the hosts changing regularly to keep players engaged.”

BetMGM said MGM Bonus City will launch in Michigan and Pennsylvania “in the near future” but did not offer a timeline.

How the Game Works

Players who visit MGM Bonus City are virtually transported to the Las Vegas Strip.

From there, players can choose from eight potential outcomes on a big MGM Bonus City wheel. Players can also land on one of four iconic properties on the Strip to advance to a bonus round. BetMGM is a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain.

The properties featured on the big wheel are:

  • Bellagio — Which MGM Resorts International (then MGM Grand Incorporated) acquired in 2000 following its merger with Mirage Resorts
  • Luxor — Acquired by MGM Mirage, successor to MGM Grand Inc., in 2005
  • MGM Grand — Opened by MGM Grand Inc. in 1993
  • New York-New York — Opened in 1997, then co-owned by MGM Grand Inc.

Players also have a chance for even higher winnings — before each spin, MGM Bonus City randomly awards them a special multiplier.

MGM Bonus City brings an added level of fun to BetMGM, allowing players to experience MGM Resorts’ Las Vegas casinos in a new way,” said Oliver Bartlett, Senior Director of Gaming at BetMGM. “We’re confident that our customers will enjoy this unique digital offering.”

Brooks Pierce, President and CEO of Inspired said the company was thrilled to be partnering with BetMGM to create a new hybrid approach to online casino gaming.

“Our patented technology offers unparalleled opportunities for our customers to provide a realistic 'as live’ experience to players without the logistics of dedicated studios and staffing,” Pierce said. “This is just the start of a whole new category of games.”

It’s not the first time that BetMGM and Inspired have worked together. The pair announced in July 2021 that Inspired’s V-Play Plug & Play software would be used to power online and mobile virtual sports betting products on BetMGM Casino NJ, Borgata Casino NJ, and partycasino NJ.

Those operators — plus Pala and Scores Casino — operate in the Garden State under the Borgata license.

BetMGM said attendees of this year’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas were given the opportunity to demo MGM Bonus City. The game is currently available on the desktop site and on the BetMGM Casino app for the Android platform.

MGM Bonus City will be available on iOS “in the upcoming weeks,” BetMGM said.
