To help kick off the new NFL preseason, PokerStars NJ has launched a new online poker tournament series, Champions Preseason, with $150,000 in guaranteed prize money.
Champions Preseason begins August 12 and runs through August 23. The Main Event, to be held on August 22, includes $30,000 guaranteed.
The new series kicks off before the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP), the dates for which are expected to be announced soon.
Main Event Depositor Freeroll
PokerStars NJ said it will award 30 Main Event seats for Champions Preseason through its Main Event Depositor Freeroll on August 22. Each of the seats are worth $200. Players who are interested in participating in the series can get their ticket to the event by making a deposit of $30 or more using the Bonus Code “CHAMPIONS.” The deposit deadline is 1:59 pm ET on August 22.
New players who join PokerStars will receive a free ticket to the Main Event Depositor Freeroll after creating their account.
The terms and conditions of the promotion state that the top 30 players from the Main Event Depositor Freeroll tournament will win entry into the Champions Preseason Main Event via a Main Event ticket voucher. If a player wins multiple Champions Preseason Main Event entry tickets, any subsequent ticket can be exchanged for tournament money, the operator said.
Players who do not win entry to the Main Event via the promotion can still participate through a $200 buy-in.
Michigan and Pennsylvania are launching the series simultaneously in their states, but with different amounts of guaranteed prize money—$300,000 and $400,000, to be exact.
Challenges in Champions Preseason
Players will receive tickets to the NJCOOP when they play in Champions Preseason events. According to PokerStars NJ, players will:
- receive one NJCOOP Kickoff Freeroll ticket for playing in one Champions Preseason event;
- get a $3 NJCOOP Spin & Go ticket for playing in three Champions Preseason events; and
- will be given a $10 NJCOOP Warm-up ticket for playing in five Champions Preseason events.
Players must opt-in to the Champions Preseason Tournament Challenge from their Challenges window in the PokerStars client to participate in the promotion. They must also complete at least one of the three tournament challenges.
NFL Tickets Offered
PokerStars NJ added that the winner of the Champions Preseason Main Event will also win two tickets to an NFL game of their choice, in addition to any prize money they win.
The operator said the value of the NFL tickets cannot exceed $1,000, and that players will not be compensated for selected tickets that are worth less than $1,000.
$1k Champions Preseason Freeroll tournament
Players can also win bonus bets by competing in a Champions Preseason Freeroll tournament. The event will be held on August 14 with $1,000 in cash for the winner and $10 free sports bets for the top 100 finishers.
Players must register and participate in eligible Champions Preseason tournaments and finish within the top 100 to get a single sportsbook bonus bet equal to $10, according to the promotion’s terms and conditions.
