Mobile lottery app Jackpocket has inked separate multi-year deal agreements with Rutgers Athletics and with the NHL’s New Jersey Devils this week.
The deal with Rutgers calls for Jackpocket to become the university’s first-ever Official Mobile Lottery Partner, while the Devils’ partnership will see the company serve as the NHL team’s Official Lottery Courier Partner.

Free Lottery Tickets for Rutgers Fans
Under the Rutgers agreement, Jackpocket — which recently announced plans for an online casino in NJ — will be promoted via Rutgers Athletics social media channels, and on LED signage and videoboards during Rutger’s men’s and women’s basketball games at Jersey Mike’s Arena as well as football games at SHI Stadium.
Jackpocket will also receive exposure via Rutgers’ official Scarlet Knights’ social media channels, in addition to radio, print, and digital media.
Rutgers fans, as well as students and alumni, will be able to use the code “KNIGHTS” during eligible games to obtain free lottery tickets. Jackpocket will also host contests with basketball and football tickets as prizes.
“Rutgers is not only my alma mater but a respected and global leading research institution,” said Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan. “The opportunity to meet students and fans where they are and provide them with an added layer of fun during basketball and football games, is something new and exciting, especially in a state where lottery play is such a popular pastime.”
In-Game Experiences for Devils Fans
In this week’s second big partnership announcement, on Tuesday, Sullivan unveiled Jackpocket’s new role as Official Lottery Courier Partner for the New Jersey Devils, highlighting how the deal will allow the operator to “introduce new in-game activities and experiences to this fan base throughout the coming years.”
One of those experiences is the “First Goal of the Game” — a social media contest where, during every New Jersey Devils’ regular-season game, fans can guess who will score the first goal for each game. Whoever guesses correctly will be entered to win an autographed photo of a current Devils player. Fans can submit their first goal scorer guess prior to each Devils game.
“Jackpocket presents Devils and sports fans in New Jersey an opportunity to take their naturally competitive spirit to the next level, from a trusted and celebrated partner,” said Adam Cross, the NHL team’s senior vice president for corporate partnerships.
“From Devils-themed lottery opportunities to special Jackpocket-sponsored sweepstakes and exclusive prizes, we are confident Jackpocket will be the preferred digital lottery platform for Devils fans — who are already five times more likely to play the lottery than the national average.”
Devils fans can use the code “NJD22” after downloading the Jackpocket app to receive their first Mega Millions or Powerball Lottery Ticket for free.
Jackpocket App Now Available in New Jersey
In March 2021, Google revised its policy on real-money gaming applications, making Jackpocket’s app available for download through the Google Play Store. The company announced the launch of the New Jersey version of its app earlier this month.
“We are committed to continuously innovating the digital gaming space in a safe and meaningful way and with the huge impact that this state has on lottery play, we’re looking forward to everything we have planned for New Jersey and beyond,” Sullivan said at the time. “Jackpocket is poised for an incredible 2022 and Google Play access is only the beginning.”
