Hard Rock Bet’s New Jersey Mega Jackpot reached $2.16 million by Friday morning, setting a new company record and overtaking the previous record jackpot of just under $2.1 million that was given away on July 4. The pool had already crossed $2 million earlier in the week and was still growing.
That extends a fast run-up since the jackpot launched in April. PlayNJ reported earlier this month that the pool had produced three seven-figure winners by then: $1,942,272.47 on May 11, $1,937,382 on June 4 and the July 4 hit, which was the first time the prize had gone past $2 million.
Hard Rock Bet said the July 4 payout was the biggest Mega Jackpot in its history and more than $154,000 above the previous high. The company has also said there is no set trigger and no way to know exactly when the jackpot will land.
The prize sits at the top of a four-tier progressive system, alongside Mini, Minor and Major. Players can opt in by adding 20 cents to qualifying spins, and each qualifying spin carries a random chance of landing one of the tiers.
By Friday morning, the Mini tier was above $130 and the Major tier was above $18,000. After a hit, the Mega tier resets to $100,000.
