Tipico, one of the world’s leading sports betting operators, has announced a new partnership with Caesars Entertainment that will give it access to new legal sports betting markets in Indiana and Iowa.

The deal is set to last for 10 years, with an additional 10-year renewal term. It will allow Tipico to launch sportsbooks in both states immediately, following pending licensing and approvals by the state regulators.

For each state, Tipico will need a live sports betting partner, and they have found that in Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Indiana, and the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf in Iowa. Both properties are owned by Caesars Entertainment.

Tipico finds itself entering two new markets shortly after their recent entry into Colorado, and is hoping to expand to further legal US markets in the near future.

The deal will also allow Tipico to run online casinos in both states, pending legislative approval for such operations, which has not been released in either state just yet.

Tipico US CEO, Adrian Vella, said the partnership with Caesars Entertainment represents the next step in the company’s US expansion. “We look forward to establishing our brand presence in the Midwest and introducing our highly scalable, proprietary multi-state sports betting experience to players in Indiana and Iowa,” Vella said.

Tipico continues US growth

The German sports betting giant has been on an expansion mission in the US for some time now, launching a betting product in both New Jersey and Colorado, and offering a single app which allows access from both states.

With the new betting apps for Indiana and Iowa pending, Tipico continues its cooperation with Gannett, which they initiated last July, gaining access to Gannet’s network of 250 local websites and the USA Today Sports Media Group.

The operator is now planning to open a technology hub in Denver, which should bring hundreds of jobs to the region and allow Tipico to continue rapid expansion in the US market.

Tipico’s VP of Business Development and Strategy, Stephen Krombolz, added that the agreement with Caesars “is another exciting step forward for Tipico as we continue to connect with more US bettors. Indiana and Iowa are key states in our early expansion plans, but there is certainly more to come, and we look forward to announcing additional partnerships later this year.”

Cody Schiever, a public relations specialist who works with Tipico, told New Jersey Gaming Review that the company “expects to launch their mobile sports betting app in Iowa during Q4 2021 and Indiana in Q1 2022, pending regulatory approvals.

“Tipico will also be launching an online casino product in New Jersey this fall, and anticipates the announcement of additional state market access agreements before the end of this year,” Schiever said.

Gannett-Tipico partnership going strong

Last July, Tipico entered a strategic partnership with mass media giants Gannett, which saw them launch a joint sports betting app in New Jersey and Colorado.

Tipico’s proprietary betting app was launched in both states, with Gannett providing increased market penetration through its massive network of sports news and stats sites, which collectively have more than 46 million unique users.
