Independent gaming company Leander Games has announced a casino content deal with Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG). As part of the agreement, seven of Leander’s top-performing slots will be provided exclusively to GNOG until the end of 2023.

The slot games Viking Raid Zone, Cash Up, Silk Road Riches, Star Stacks, Fortune Fireworks, Patrick’s Jackpot, and Diamond Blast Zone will be available only to online casino players via GNOG throughout the next two years, according to the newly-inked agreement between the two brands.

For GNOG, the deal represents an expansion of the brand’s online slot offerings with new and exclusive titles.

“The huge importance of this deal is that it gives Leander Games prominence with one of the leading operators in the US online gaming space,” said Leander Games CEO Steven Matsell.

“Golden Nugget is among the top tier of digital casino operators in the US. We are delighted to be associated with such a marquee brand and organization and we look forward to offering this selection of games to GoldenNuggetCasino.com players across North America.”

Leander is based in Malta and is licensed to supply Type 1 gaming services by that island nation. However, the company has not yet obtained a full B2B license from the regulator, the Malta Gaming Authority.

Leander is also licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission of Great Britain.

The studio has developed more than 300 games and currently works with several dozen partners in the online gaming industry, including big names such as PokerStars, Playtech, Mr Green, and Relax Gaming. Adding a well-established traditional casino operator to the list of business relations further increases the exposure for the independent gaming studio.

Growth in 2021, Upcoming Merger for GNOG

Likewise, Golden Nugget has undergone a year of expansion and growth on American soil.

Last October, GNOG launched new sportsbooks in Virginia and West Virginia in cooperation with Scientific Games (SG). It was yet another milestone in the ongoing partnership of both brands and also resulted in the launch of a new iGaming platform in West Virginia. The casino games portal can now also feature the seven new titles by Leander Studio as well.

The pair also further cemented their cooperation in New Jersey after establishing retail sports betting at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. Together, GNOG and SG relaunched the Golden Nugget New Jersey mobile sportsbook in early 2021.

As far as the online casino revenue in New Jersey is concerned, GNOG had to concede the top spot they held in late 2020. All major competitors recorded significant growth year-over-year, with Borgata topping the market in November 2021, as they grossed more than $33.7 million — which was down 7.1% compared to the record set in the previous month, but up an astonishing 45.2%. GNOG had a similar trend with more than $31.7 million in gross revenue, as they were up 22% in comparison with November 2020 ($26 million).

The latest data released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has Golden Nugget listed with a market share of just 5.4%.

DraftKings holds the keys to GNOG’s future. Last August, DraftKings agreed to purchase all shares of the iGaming brand from its majority shareholder Fertitta Entertainment. The all-stock deal worth $1.56 billion is expected to be completed in Q1 2022.

With industry expertise and an established online casino platform, a combined DraftKings-Golden Nugget Online Gaming entity would have the opportunity to dominate two verticals at once.
