PointsBet — a global gaming firm with operations in Australia, Canada, Ireland, and the United States — has expanded its New Jersey online casino to include live dealer games.

The live casino experience has exploded in the online casino world recently, including in New Jersey. PointsBet is the latest online casino to offer a live dealer experience, joining other operators like SugarHouse, DraftKings, and Barstool in providing a live experience in games like blackjack and roulette.

With online casino play increasing — revenue in New Jersey in October 2021 was a record $124.6 million — live table games bring a very popular addition to the lineup.

Under a partnership with Evolution, PointsBet will live stream dealer games from Evolution’s studio in New Jersey.

Live Game Boost

PointsBet may well be hoping the live casino experience online will give it a boost. The operator is currently a very small player in the Garden State’s market, although it is also a newcomer.

Working under license with Bally’s Atlantic City, PointsBet has only been in the market since July 2021, but the operator has seen decent growth, jumping from $270k to $623k in revenue from October to November.

That still represents a tiny fraction of the market, but Aaron O’Sullivan, PointsBet’s vice president for online casino revenue, said he sees a strong future for the operator.

“Live gaming in New Jersey represents a serious expansion of our relationship with Evolution and with our live gaming players,” O’Sullivan said. “We received tremendous feedback and a clear message that users want more options, including live play. These games are fun and interactive, and we know they will be enthusiastically received.”

There are a variety of games that have a live component now, including a game show-like offering called Dreamcatcher. In the game, the presenter spins a wheel and interacts live with players placing bets on various spin outcomes.

Below is a list of the rest of the games with live presenters:

  • Blackjack
  • Infinite blackjack
  • American roulette
  • American auto roulette
  • American lightning roulette
  • Speed baccarat
  • Three card poker
  • Ultimate Texas Hold ’Em

Second State with Live Games

New Jersey marks the second state where PointsBet offers live dealer games through its online casino. The company also has live games in Michigan and is very bullish on the NJ games. The live dealer games launched in the Mitten State in mid-December, also in partnership with Evolution.

“Every market offers new opportunities and technology challenges, and we are incredibly proud of our team for positioning us to launch Live Casino in New Jersey,” said Manjit Gombra Singh, PointsBet’s president for product and technology.

“Our proprietary technology stack gives us an edge that our competitors are unable to match, and the ability to provide more options as we continue to deliver our services throughout the U.S. and Canada.”

In addition to the online casino, PointsBet also runs sports betting operations in New Jersey, as well as in seven other US states — Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Virginia, and West Virginia. The company is looking to expand its gaming footprint even more and looks forward to launching branded tables in NJ later this month.
